Week 2
Hello All,
The second week is about to end and the time is really
running fast. This week we had a lot of activities. We discovered many new search
engines that could help us get many teaching resources. Noodles.com was really
an eye opener for many of us. I always depended on Googles for any web resources
and now I have so many options. So, in discussion 1 of the second week, we went
through many search engines and shared our opinion regarding this. I liked
Kidsclick.com, biography.com and sweetengine.com the best. I think these 3 search engines are really good
for younger learners, so I would like to refer these sites to my younger
students and the teachers who teach young learners.
We also worked on
ABCD method. For me this is a new method. We went through some websites that
are mentioned in our reading list, followed Donna’s instruction and example and
then made our own ABCD model. Besides, Donna gave us inspiring feedbacks which
helped us to know if we were on the right tracts.
We also had
another discussion where we described our classes and the technologies that we
use in the class. I was feeling shy while participating this portion as in my
school we hardly use any technology. However, when I went through the other
participants’ write-ups, I no longer felt lonely. This discussion was also a
first step towards writing our project paper. I was really shaky at first
thinking about how it is going to be but when we finally gave our first step to
the project; I felt that it was not as difficult as I thought. Donna’s guidance
and the way the course has been designed do not make us feel as if the course
is an extra burden. I am eagerly looking forward to the following week and of
course reading the other participant’s blog.
Cheers

Reflection of Week 1
I wanted to create my own blog since a long time, but for
some unknown reasons, I was hesitating. Now, when I had to create a blog for
the Webskills Course 2014 under University of Oregon, I feel very excited.
During the first week, we, the 20 participants around the world, introduced
ourselves to each other, went through the rules and regulation and had a group discussion
sharing our opinion in the Nicenet. Besides, we had Donna’s guidance while
following each and every step. I went through each and every one’s write up in
the blog and in the Nicenet and got to know everyone individually. I believe
together we can share and learn a lot from each other and definitely from the
course as well. Let us look forward for the great times ahead.
